Mountain Biking-

The only lift-access mountain biking in all of Minnesota! In September, the lift operates Friday-Sunday so grab your gear, the family and/or some friends - and RIDE ON! 

 

Our trails have received national accolades, the view of Lake Superior can't be beat, we offer cool locally brewed beers at the adjacent Riverside Bar & Grill, and when you're done biking for the day you can enjoy all of Duluth!

Chairlift Hours: 

Friday:      11am-6pm

Saturday:  11am-6pm

Sunday:    11am-6pm

 

*NOTE: We are unable to operate the chairlift during lightning and thunderstorms.  During these times the chairlift will be closed for at least 30 minutes after the last lightning or thunder.  In the event of excessive rain, our bike trails may be closed to prevent trail damage in wet conditions.  The above times are current through 9/1/14. 

  

CHAIRLIFT RIDE RATES:

Single Ride  $8

All Day Pass  $20

Three-Pack  $45*

*Three-Packs are valid for three All Day Passes that can be used on any three days this summer, expiring after October 2014.  Three-Packs can be purchased online, but will be mailed to you so please allow time for processing and shipping.  

 

Bike Rentals: 

Want to give our mountain bike trails a try or maybe your bike is out of commession.  Look no futher then our friends at Continental Ski & Bike.  Located on site at the Grand Avenue Chalet Thursday-Sunday.  You will find bike & helmet rentals, repairs and tech services. PARKING:

We can accommodate mountain bike parking at either the Riverside Bar & Grill (inside the Grand Chalet at the base of the mountain), or at the Adventure Park Concession Building (top of the Spirit Express II chairlift).  Daily Tickets are available at either location.  However, we strongly encourage folks to utilize the Grand Chalet location as it offers a better parking experience in addition to the amenities provided by the Riverside Bar & Grill.

 

HELMETS:

Spirit Mountain does require helmets to be worn while riding on our Mountain Bike Trails.  Please come prepared as we do not rent bike helmets.

 

BIKE RENTALS:

Spirit Mountain does not rent bikes, but you CAN rent them in Duluth at Continental Ski & Bike!  Continental is open 7 days a week and has Hybrid bikes starting at only $20 for a Half Day, with Mountain Bikes ranging from $45 - $65 for a Full Day.  Weeklong rentals are also available.  Click HERE for details on Continental's BIKE RENTAL program.

Happy CamperEasiest

4700’ long, machine built flow trail, Happy Camper, is our most beginner friendly trail featuring lots of rollers and berms. Perfect for your first adventure into gravity based mountain biking.

 

CandylandEasiest

4600’ long, machine built flow trail this trail bridges the gap between beginner gravity rider and intermediate. Candyland features more defined rollers and jumps and the berms get a little bit tighter. It is the perfect trail to progress your riding! Beginners who have mastered Happy Camper will find this trail a bit more challenging while more advanced riders will find many opportunities to catch a little air. A true crowd pleaser, Candyland was named a model flow trail by the International Mountain Bike Association in 2013.

 

SmorgasbordDifficult/ Intermediate

4700’ of true intermediate, downhill single track. Smorgasbord, as the name suggests, truly has a little bit of it all—high-speed fire road, rock gardens, jumps, drops, wood features—all packed into one downhill trail.  

 

BlasterMore Difficult/ Advanced

900’ Blaster is a more difficult, downhill single-track trail filled with rocks and steep slopes. Blaster has been known to claim tubes if your not on the line.  Experienced riders only.

 

Wild CatMore Difficult / Advanced

1000’ of fun! Wild Cat is an advanced, free ride trail. Features include: steep rock faces, drops, and jumps. Several spots feature optional lines for you to choose your own adventure—some are more difficult then others—but all sure to test your bike handling skills and put a smile on your face. Experienced riders only.

 

Wrecking BallMore Difficult / Advanced

A hand built single track, this downhill trail is tight and fast, filled with rock faces and tight trees that keep you on your game. Experienced riders only.

 

Calculated RiskMost difficult / Expert

3500’ Calculated Risk is an expert level downhill trail with large jumps and lots of rock. This trail features the highest level of difficulty on the hill. Big high-speed jumps and high consequence rock faces give this trail its expert rating. Experienced riders only.

 

Dirt jump / Skills Park

A cluster of four trails designed to facilitate progression.

 

Skill Levels:

 

Two green level trails help the novice rider with skills development. These trails introduce riders to trail features including rocks, berms, jumps and drops all at an approachable size with learning in mind.

 

Our blue level jump trail takes an intermediate rider to the air. All jumps and features here! Jumps grow in size as the trail advances allowing riders to gain the confidence to hit bigger and bigger features. All the jumps in this line are table tops allowing for safety if you’re coming up a little short while dialing it all in.

 

Our expert dirt jump line features large gap jumps with steep lips and nice transitions—perfect for getting some airtime. Experienced riders only.
