Youth Mountain Bike Camps 2017 

Spirit Mountain Bike Camps are an excellent way for your child to improve their skills, gain confidence on their bike & trails and have a lot of fun at Spirit Mountain.  With a focus on safety, teamwork and good attitudes, our PMBI Certified coaches will have your child loving every minute of Bike Camp!  
 
All camps are located out of our Grand Avenue Chalet at 8551 Grand Ave, Duluth MN 55810. We also offer flexible drop off and pick up times to help work around parents work schedules.  Just ask us!
 
 

 

Adventure Camp - Ages 6 to 12 

Cost: $175

When:  June 12-16, July 10-14, July 17-21|| 9am to 4pm 

The world is the playground and adventure is waiting around every corner.  This traditional day camp setting will have your child exploring and learning about life outside during the summer.  The base of Spirit Mountain is intertwined with the forest and the field and leaves ample room for every camper to enjoy!  Campers will enjoy the traditional camp games such as dodge ball and capture the flag and also take hikes along the Superior Hiking Trail and to Knowlton Creek.  Adventure campers will also be kings and queens of the Adventure Park for a day each week.  The Alpine Coaster, Zip Line, Mini Golf, and Jumping Pillow will be included during the week-long camp.

 

Lil Rippers Mountain Bike Camp - Ages 6 to 9

Cost: $99

When:  June 14-16(CAMP FULL), July 10-12 and July 24-26  || 9am-12pm

A camp waiting for those children who are ready to rip!  Campers must have advanced beyond training wheels and be comfortable riding on varying terrain.  Your camper will spend the 3 hours each day of this camp being introduce to the basic of mountain biking.  Proper stance will be demonstrated and taught to these young riders to give them the foundation for a lifetime of biking.  The flat ground progression area outside of the Grand Avenue Chalet, the Skills Park, and the Duluth Traverse will be the stomping ground for these Lil Rippers to grow!

 

Strider Camp - Ages 2 to 5

Cost: $$75 or $150

When:  June 14-16, July 10-12, July 24-26 || 9:30am-11am

Our youngest of riders have possibilities that were not available when we were children.  The Strider Camp will come along side you as a parent to introduce your child to riding a bicycle.  This balance bike teaching works on just that… your child’s balance!  This camp is offered as a bring your own balance bike for $75 or pre-register with the option of purchasing a Strider bike and the camp for $150.

 

Beginner Mountain Bike - Ages 9-15

Cost: $219

When:  June 19-23, July 17-21 (full)  || 10am-4pm 

The Beginner Mountain Bike Camper is one who is comfortable on their bike and is ready to take it off the road and onto the dirt.  Skills will be introduced and taught on the flat ground and reinforced in the Skills Park.  This camp then will progress their riding onto the newly constructed section of the Duluth Traverse.  All of these areas will allow your camper to grow to be introduced to the greater trail system at Spirit Mountain!  The Beginner Mountain Bike Camp will have a weekly trip to the Adventure Park to enjoy the Alpine Coaster, Mini Golf, Zip Line, and Jumping Pillow and will also utilize the lift accessed trails on Friday of each week.

What to Bring: A Mountain Bike with hand brakes (coaster brakes are not allowed), a biking specific helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads, a backpack with a water reservoir or water bottle attached to the bike, and a lunch & snacks for each day.

 

Intermediate Mountain Bike - Ages 9 to 15

Cost: $219

When:  June 19-23 (CAMP FULL), July 17-21 || 10am-4pm 

The Intermediate Mountain Biking Camp is for those riders who have been on the trail in the past and are ready to refine their skills.  The fundamentals will be taught and reinforced to ensure each camper has the correct grasp on biking from the basics.  This camp will utilize the Skills Park, the newly constructed section of the Duluth Traverse and the downhill trail system will be the primary learning areas.  The intermediate camp will venture to more areas and look at correctly reading lines throughout the trails and have introduction to rocks and a greater variety of technical skills. 

The Intermediate Mountain Bike Camp will have a weekly trip to the Adventure Park to enjoy the Alpine Coaster, Mini Golf, Zip Line, and Jumping Pillow and will also utilize the lift accessed trails on Friday of each week.

Beginner Downhill Single Day - Ages 9 to 15

Cost: $59

When:  June 17, July 15 || 10am-3pm 

Our one day camp is for the camper who is ready to move from the XC trail systems and begin to apply their skills to the DH trails.  Each camper will be assessed on their ability and reinforced in the fundamentals before heading to the lift.  The Skills Park will be the warm-up location before heading up the lift for a day of riding the trails.  Campers will be guided down the trails while progressing their skills and building confidence through the day.

What to Bring: A Mountain Bike with hand brakes, a biking specific helmet (full-face helmet recommended), gloves, knee and elbow pads, a backpack with a water reservoir or water bottle attached to the bike, and a lunch & snacks for each day. 

 

Intermediate Downhill Two Day Camp - Ages 9 to 15

Cost: $150

When:  June 23 - 24, July 21-22 || Friday 4p - 8p & Saturday 10a - 3p

Campers for this camp have already been introduced to downhill riding and are ready to step it up to the next level.  This camp is highly focused on line reading, rock gardens and proper speed control through every berm, over rollers and into jumps.  Warm up laps will be taken in the Skills Park and the downhill trails will be the primary learning area with Smorgasbord, the blue level trail, will be the goal to run top to bottom through the days.

What to Bring: A Mountain Bike with hand brakes, a biking specific helmet(full-face helmet recommended), gloves, knee and elbow pads, a backpack with a water reservoir or water bottle attached to the bike, and a lunch and snack for each day.
